A Vision for Thriving Practices
Jeff and Steve, both active members of the American Psychological Association’s Division 42 (Independent Practice), met in 2008 and quickly became friends and collaborators. Their shared passion for helping mental health professionals build successful, rewarding practices laid the foundation for The Practice Institute (TPI).
Turning Vision Into Action
As Jeff and his wife Lauren—also a psychologist in independent practice—began shaping the vision for TPI, they recognized a major gap: most graduate programs don’t teach the business and operational skills needed to run a thriving practice. Their mission became clear: to provide mental health professionals with the essential tools to succeed.
A Growing Hub of Resources
At the same time, Steve and Pauline saw the need for a comprehensive resource library focused on independent practice. Instead of developing these initiatives separately, all four collaborators came together, merging their expertise, innovation, and a strong friendship to build something greater.
The Practice Institute was born—dedicated to guiding clinicians in building fulfilling, sustainable, and impactful practices.
